1Up Solar is a solar agency based in San Diego, California. They were seeking to update and improve the usability of their dated site.
This redesign was my first client project, completed during my UX Certificate at York University.
I worked with a colleague during the research phase. I produced the following project deliverables;
I interviewed several owners of solar energy companies to learn about the technical aspects of solar panel installation as well as the different types of solar cells available in North America.
In order to create personas of their potential clients, my colleague conducted a survey of 25 home owners.
Key survey findings:
Early on in the project I met with the client to brainstorm and discus ideas for their new site. I presented various sketches and low fidelity wireframes.
As concepts evolved I tried out different layouts and options for the information architecture on mid-fidelity wireframes.
I designed mid fidelity wireframes showing how the site layout would adapt to tablets.
Mobile wireframes help illustrate how the site will look and function on mobile devices.
Towards the end of the project high fidelity wireframes were created, incorporating the company's branding, colour palette and imagery.
Clickable prototypes were used to conduct user testing. Feedback from real users helped refine the final versions of the designs.
Designs were created including desktop and mobile versions.
Development-ready designs and prototypes were delivered to the client in Figma.
